Ladies Golf in Telford, Shropshire

A Message from Ronnie Simpson, Lady Captain, 2021-2

Thank you for taking the time to find out about the Ladies’ Section at Lilleshall Hall Golf Club. We are a thriving section of approximately 90 members of all ages and handicap levels. We are extremely proud of our reputation for being friendly, warm and welcoming. Our “Nine and Wine” events mean that new members are quickly assimilated into our section and feel at home here. We are proud that as a group we all try and ensure that “no one will ever be short of a game”. To facilitate this we share email addresses, phone numbers and have recently set up a “WhatsApp” group.

We offer numerous and wide ranging opportunities for women to enjoy golf here at the club. We have medals, stablefords, paired and individual Major competitions running throughout the season as well as events whereby women from other clubs can come and enjoy our fabulous course. We enter teams into the Shropshire Scratch, Handicap and Mini Leagues and all of our ladies are invited to put their names forward to play in the friendly matches with local clubs.

Mixed golf is a strength of the club and its popularity is growing. We have a programme of mixed matches and several mixed competitions on our calendar. Joining in with the Saturday mixed “throw up” is a popular way of meeting and playing other members. Last year we enjoyed two opportunities for mixed golf as weekend away stays. We have another planned for August 2021 – we have our fingers crossed that this will go ahead. In the winter we have a number of “fun” competitions to “keep our swings going” and have a catch up with each other.

In normal times the club has a diverse programme of social functions for all members to enjoy and we are looking forward to later in the year when these can be re-introduced

Lilleshall Hall Golf Club has recently signed up to the “The Women Into Golf Charter” and we are excited by the prospect of more women joining our section as the opportunities for women, mixed and family golf at the club continue to develop. I do hope I get the opportunity of meeting you and welcoming you to our lovely club.
