LADIES’ INVITATION – 56 ladies played and 18 clubs were represented. Unlike the Ladies’ Open, the weather was good. Jo Cooke from Oxley Park had a hole in one on the 6th! Molly Adams won Nearest the Pin on the 16th and also had a 2 on the same hole! Well done Molly! In 3rd place were Jo Cole (Lilleshall) Helen Peters (Enville) Barbara Morris (Lilleshall) and A Marczac (South Staffs) with 143 points. In 2nd place were Tricia Dugmore (Lilleshall) S. Sylvester (Isaac Walton) Penny Hubbard (Lilleshall) and Lorraine Petford (The Shropshire) with 136 points. In 1st place were myself, Gill Davidson (Stourbridge) Anne Ford (Lilleshall) and Beryl Eastwood (Hagley) with 133 points. Thank you and well played to my playing partners. We had a super round with everyone playing her part. Well played to all those in the prizes.

FRIENDLY MATCHES- sadly we lost away to Shifnal on the 4th July.  Thank you to all those who played for your sterling efforts!

We did win against Market Drayton at home, winning 3 matches and halving one. We battled round the front nine in pouring rain so well done girls.

LADY CAPTAIN’S DAY – What a fantastic day! Normally we all complain about the rain but I’m sure a few of you would have welcomed rain half way round to cool you down! I would like to thank everyone who took part or helped in any way – it was certainly a day I will never forget and it took a few days for me to come down to earth! Our conservatory is filled with all of the lovely cards I received and I thank you for your kind words.  Thank you also for your monetary donations to the charities and the food for Shropshire Street Cats and Cuan Wildlife Trust, both charities are extremely grateful. It was good to see the Past Captains and friends too. Many people helped to make the day the success that it was and a big, big thank you to all of you – Lilleshall Ladies you are the best! The men played their part too, taking part in the 12 hole competition on the evening, resulting in a win for Lady Captain’s team – well done lads! Another big thank you must go to Geoff Sellers for the fabulous pictures he has taken. A lot of them are on the Facebook section of the Lilleshall Hall website – not the one with my rollers in though! I am very grateful to you all for making it such a memorable occasion.

The Prize Winners were:

Chipping Competition – Sue Goldsmith.

Nearest the pin in 2 on the 7th – Jayne Sandford.

In 3rd place – Sarah Watson-Jones, Liz Johnson, Maureen Shepherd and a secret partner, with 76 points.

In 2nd place on count back – Jayne Sandford, Sue Goldsmith, Katherine Sandford and Bernadette  Micklewright with 77 points.

In 1st place – Sally Lockyer, Lynne Stone, Elizabeth Kenyon and Antoinette Mallon-Morris with 77 points.

Antoinette also won the individual prize with 37 points. Well done to you all!

OPEN DAY – on July 10th, Lilleshall Hall Golf Club held their first Open Day.  The event was a resounding success with lots of people turning up and a wonderful atmosphere in the clubhouse. Thank you to those who organized the event and all who helped on the day. The cakes were scrumptious! As a result of the event, we have signed up 7 new members, plus 1 more who joined within the 14 days, 17 Juniors on the Novice Training Programme, 5 away members, 2 of whom will definitely be joining as full members when their membership expires at their current club and 14 people signed up for the lessons. In addition we were able to record data from the 132 people who attended, which can be used for marketing in the future.

LADY PRESIDENT’S DAY- is going ahead, the format of the game will be the same as chosen last year by Margo. It was her wish that there be a bench in her name on the course, so the prizes will be nominal with all of the money raised going towards the purchase of a suitable bench in her memory.  The food will be sandwiches, chips and scones at a cost of £6.50. A list will be going up in the changing room for you to confirm whether or not you wish to order food. Getting changed will be optional.

SPONSORSHIP – All of the holes are now sponsored and we are looking forward to The Sponsors’ day on the 23rd September. Sue and Lynne may be asking for your support. Our very last sponsor is Carpet Styles, owned by Lee and Ryan who have a showroom at Lilleshall Hall Farm.  They have kindly offered a 20% discount on carpets and vinyls to anyone contemplating a purchase. Tel: 07850968783 for details.

JULIE NAPIER AND HER 1000km CHALLENGE – Julie has completed 661 kilometres and hopes to complete 750 kilometres by the end of August, albeit she admits it’s more of a hard slog in the warmer weather! She is still in the top 7% which is fantastic! Well done Julie, keep on running!
